What is Ballet?
Ballet students at PURE Academy will participate in one of the most historical traditions in dance history. Students participate in a disciplined atmosphere where they will learn Cecchetti Council of America syllabus and ballet fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, endurance, poise and flexibility.
PURE offers accredited ballet exam testing for all students who meet the requirements. Ballet classes are offered at all 4 PURE Academy locations in Chatham, Wallaceburg, Lakeshore, and LaSalle.
PURE also offers Ballet enrichment for those students who would like to take their training a step further. Enrichment classes are required for those wishing to take exams, but you are welcome to take those classes for extra technique practice, even if not interested in the exam route. Enrichment classes are offered in Lakeshore and Chatham, but open to dancers from all locations. Enrichment classes are technique only classes, with no performance preparations.

Pointe is a classical ballet technique performed in specially designed shoes that allow dancers to rise through the foot and achieve an extended, elevated line. This creates a sense of lightness and fluidity, often giving the impression that the dancer is floating or effortlessly suspended.
Training for pointe requires years of foundational ballet work to develop the strength, control, and alignment necessary for safe and successful execution. Dancers are introduced to pointe only when they have demonstrated the physical readiness and technical maturity to support this advanced form of movement.
Pointe work is a celebrated milestone in a dancer’s journey. It reflects a deep commitment to the art of ballet and opens the door to a more refined level of artistry, expression, and classical repertoire.
Pointe classes are offered at 2 PURE Academy locations in Chatham and Lakeshore.
