The Classroom Assistant Program
Senior students who are mature, reliable and eager can apply to be classroom assistants in dance, music, and drama classes. Getting involved in this program teaches valuable life skills and advances abilities. Assistants quickly become role models and learn about teaching while earning highschool volunteer hours.
The Classroom Assistant Program is also available to Teen Competitive Dance Team dancers. The qualifications and benefits differ for Competitive Dance Team members and are outlined in the appendix section of the Competitive Information Package.
An Assistant Workshop is held once or twice per year, as needed, to train new classroom assistants in their roles. The workshop will provide instructions about what makes a good assistant, of what to do in various situations, specific responsibilities and so much more.
Each year a sign-up sheet for assistant openings are available at the front desk. Not all who sign up are assigned a class, but all are considered. Those who have the skills, commitment and characteristics that make great classroom assistants will be selected.
