RCM Theory
Discipline: Music
Class Type: Intensive
Class Title: Theory 1 (RCM Elementary Rudiments)
Student Age: Ages 10 to 18
Follows the curriculum set forth by the Royal Conservatory of Music for Elementary Rudiments. This is the foundational theory course that prepares students for more advanced music study and sets the pace for future theory study. This course is designed for students with some musical training. Note reading is a necessity, and these theory courses are designed to complement and enhance music study. While not a requirement, students in Theory 1 will be prepared to write the RCM Rudiments Theory test at the end of the program. The exam does cost extra, and the fee must accompany the registration form submitted by theory instructor to RCM directly. Please see RCM Theory syllabus for course details.
Class Title: Theory 2 (RCM Grade 1 Theory)
Student Age: Ages 12 to 18
Follows foundations in Theory 1, and follows curriculum of RCM Grade 1 theory. While not a requirement, students in Theory 2 will be prepared to write the RCM Rudiments Theory test at the end of the program. Class Title: Theory 3 (RCM Grade 2 Theory)
Student Age: Ages 14 to 18
Follows musical development from Theory 1, and follows the RCM Grade 2 Theory syllabus. The final step before beginning advanced Music Harmony studies. While not a requirement, students in Theory 3 will be prepared to write the RCM Rudiments Theory test at the end of the program.
