Our History
How we got started
PURE Dance Academy came into being when a group of like-minded individuals joined in the purpose of creating a great place to dance. "This new studio," they said, "would have to be approachable and warm, have a family friendly environment, a strong focus on technique and have a fun approach to choreography." These visionaries wanted to make a studio in Chatham-Kent that cared about the person first. With hard work and focused, dedicated effort, the PURE Dance Studio was born.
What happened in the beginning
PURE quickly became one of Chatham-Kent’s most respected dance schools, and one of the fastest growing new businesses in the area. Students and families dedicated to the same principles and values we uphold became part of the PURE community and we found that our vision for tangible and intangible success was being realized.
What changed
With so many talented individuals surrounding the PURE team, it became difficult to contain further conceptualizing. The idea sparked that instead of offering only dance we should draw upon our personal collective backgrounds and enter the world of performing arts training rivaling the artistic opportunities found in larger city centers. The PURE Youth Choir was imagined and formed, and the need for more quality space, even our own performance space, became the obvious next steps for us. We rennovated two more spaces creating an additional classroom for dance, music and drama instruction and a state-of-the-art Black Box Theatre for training and performances.
Where we are today
We are committed to furthering Chatham’s artistic heritage by nurturing youth in their creative interests and pursuits. Chatham-Kent has been home to many gifted individuals that have made careers in the performing arts and we are proud to be instrumental in the seasoning and development of the next generation of talented young dancers, singers and actors.
Where we are going
As an Academy for the Performing Arts, we will strive to see each of our students work hard as individuals to achieve personal and team goals and to function in a positive, productive and energetic manner. We will aim to bring a culture of mutual encouragement, appreciation and respect among our students. Our training will prepare students for successful futures in their personal and professional lives.
Tomorrow, together
We do not take our ambitions lightly. Our young people are a treasure to be recognized and treated with care. We hold our vision in front of us as we work toward continuously realizing our goals. As we strive to bring success to the students we instruct, we also strive to be personally successful in our own lives and the lifecycle of our business. We accept partnership opportunities within the community to help us achieve our goals, and we offer to Chatham-Kent our mission and vision to make our community a better place for everyone.
